Blog 9 "I Wanna Be Sedated"

 

This week I listened to “I Wanna be Sedated” by The Ramones. I watched the music video also and I think it adds to the lyrics of the song. The song says, “twenty-four hours to go, I wanna be sedated” and as the music video goes on, they look like they are at a party they do not want to be at and are kind of trapped and cannot go home. I found the intro of the song reminded me of something from Rock Band or Guitar Hero with the guitar, bass and drum. Towards the end of the song, the vocalist does some non-verbal singing with a “bam-bam-baba” over and over which fits into the feel of the whole song. I also noticed that almost every time the vocalist starts a new measure the drummer plays the cymbals. Overall, this is definitely a rock song with a focus on the rhythm instead of the lyrics. I can see teens really enjoying it or playing it at a party as depicted in the music video. It is kind of a soft head banger type song and the lyrics do not really make sense to me, but I did like the song for the most part.
