Blog 12 "Numb"
This week I listened to “Numb” by Linkin Park. I grew up on Linkin Park, so this was very nostalgic and probably the most enjoyable blog post I have done. The beginning of the song is very unique and starts with a sampler introduction that quickly progresses into a hard rock with the guitar, bass guitar and piano. The guitar is absent during the beginning verse and only the sampler, piano and drums are heard. Then the DJ scratches the record, and a heavy, almost gloomy sounding background vocal comes in. The sampler is very evident in this song as well, and I think it adds a unique tone overall as it allows for sounds to be used that Linkin Park created. The song gets heavier and feels like a hard rock song about mid-way through with the increase in intensity of the instruments and the lead singer Chester Bennington.
